THE HOME OF LAWN BOWLS ON THE ISLE OF MAN

Welcome to the home page of Lawn Bowls Isle of Man. We are located in Onchan Pleasure Park, Onchan, opposite the Boating Lake. From the green we have fabulous uninterrupted views over Douglas Bay. We are the only "flat green" bowling club on the Isle of Man, which is traditionally a crown green environment, despite it not being played internationally.

The club meets on Tuesdays, and Saturdays at 1.30pm for mainly informal social bowling (except when we have a competition). We also have a more competitive league program, with singles on Monday evenings and premier pairs on Wednesdays, both 6.30pm starts. We also have a daytime pairs league on Fridays at 1.00pm. A key to the Club house is provided to members so if these times don't suit, members can arrange games anytime to suit their commitments. We aim to accommodate both the casual and more competitive bowler. Why not come along and try lawn bowls for yourself.

New players will be made most welcome regardless of experience and ability. We can lend you a set of bowls until such times as you get your own. The informal nature of our meetings make it ideal for the novice bowler to learn the ropes. Our more experienced bowlers will be happy to provide you with basic tuition on the skills of the game.

Bowls is a sport that can be played by all age groups and men and women can play and compete together. It provides gentle anaerobic exercise but do not underestimate its contribution to your overall fitness and well being. It also provides many social benefits and an opportunity to make new friends. If you are new to the Island then it is an excellent way to integrate into the community.

Bowls compared to other sports is relatively inexpensive, the basic equipment you need is a set of bowls (which can be bought second hand and last a lifetime) and a pair of heelless flat shoes. Club fees for this year are £20 (new members can enjoy their first season FREE), this includes all league and championship competitions, plus you will need an annual season ticket from Onchan Commissioners (bought through us) which will allow you to use both the flat green, and if it takes your fancy, the crown green too, all for £62.50 for the full season. Great value!
