In a terrific match of some quality watched by an amazing spectator gallery the crowd were treated to some exceptional bowls and shots worthy of a televised event. The host club had provided 2 of their best local residents with a past pedigree in winning this competition that it seemed a fair accomplish for the home pair. However Slack and McGreal had other plans and found some extra energy to play the second match of the day in 28 degrees heat and as the 40th end of the end closed with the Manx pair 6 up on the scoreboard but laying 5 shots down Clive conceded his last bowl and was pleased to win the title by a single shot. David was thrilled to pick up his first major international open event amid such a strong field and under such challenging conditions.
