Staging his first President’s Shield competition Gary Lenton elected to adopt an Aussie Pairs format for this year’s event with a full field of 12 pairs entered for the competition. The pairs were drawn at random but fate managed to partner Bernice and Clive McGreal together for the afternoon. The competition coincided with the annual Onchan Fayre along with music playing in the background and a host of activities at the park attracting a good crowd of spectators.

The standard of bowls on offer throughout the event produced some quality from a number of the players with juniors John Long and William Corris performing very well against their senior members. However, it was the experienced partnership of Bernice & Clive that showed the consistency required to stay ahead of the chasing pack and claim the President’s Trophy for 2024.
