Lawn Bowls were pleased to host a group from the local E-gaming and sports betting company, Flutter International, whose group includes the renown Pokerstars brand.

Whilst the group were clearly good sportsmen from all backgrounds, for the majority it was their first exposure to lawn bowls. There were a couple of qualified coaches on hand from the club along with the President, Pam Makin who provided the basic instruction on the principles and technique for members of the group who quickly got to grips with the sport. After a series of different training drills and target bowls the group divided into 2 teams for some competitive edge which provided some good displays and promising skills from a number of the lads. With the scores tied level with just a solitary bowl left for one of the teams it was the final bowl of the day delivered by John Cork that finished up closest to the jack to claim the bragging rights for the evening. The session was then finished off with the traditional “spider” with each member of the group spread around the perimeter of the green and delivering just a single bowl each with the jack centred in the middle of the green. It was a fitting end to the session when John Cork again delivered the golden bowl to win the competition and lift the trophy to crown a fine evening’s entertainment and an enjoyable introduction to social bowls.
